Anna G. R. Miller is a translator and teacher of French specializing in 20th and 21st century literature.
Her translation of Roberto Zucco is featured in Bernard-Marie Koltès: Seven Plays, edited and with an introduction by Amin Erfani (Martin E. Segal Theatre Center Publications, 2022). The anthology is the first collection of the seven major plays by the seminal and widely acclaimed French playwright in American English. The translation had its amateur premiere at CalArts School of Theater in November 2022, directed by Héctor Alvarez. She is currently translating two plays by Aristide Tarnagda, winner of the Grand prix littérature d'Afrique noire (2017) and Director of Récréâtrales, one of the largest theatre festivals on the African continent (held in Ouagadougou). Miller holds a Ph.D. in French from New York University where she was an American Society for the French Legion of Honor Fellow and Postdoctoral Fellow. She also holds Masters' degrees in French from the University of Oxford and New York University and a Bachelor's degree from Vassar College. With the support of a Mellon Foundation Dissertation Fellowship in the Humanities, Miller completed a dissertation entitled, "Craving Connection in the Urban Wasteland: The Enigmatic Real and the Deal in the Theatre of Bernard-Marie Koltès.” She has since gone on to work as a French translator and teacher. |
